Van life guide: Scotland

Van Life in Perth: Best Spots, Meetups & Where to Park

Meet fellow van lifers, plan meetups and convoys, or meet someone who gets the lifestyle in Perth. Perth is the Fair City on the River Tay, a gateway to the Highlands with a strong food scene.

The van life scene in Perth

The Tay runs through the city, with the North Inch and South Inch parks on its banks. Kinnoull Hill gives a wooded viewpoint, and the Highlands begin to the north.

When you are based in Perth, it is simple to find your crew when you plan a campfire with fellow van lifers. Perth is part of our wider Perth and Kinross guide.

Parking up and staying legal in Perth

Perth city centre has height-restricted car parks, and larger vans do best at the edge of the centre or at nearby campsites. Check overnight rules.

In Scotland, access rights cover lightweight tent camping in small numbers for two or three nights, but they do not include motor vehicles, so staying overnight in a campervan or motorhome is different. Landowners and councils can restrict where you park, and some areas, such as parts of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, have camping byelaws. Use campsites, motorhome stopovers or pubs that welcome vans, and follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.

Read the Scottish Outdoor Access Code guide to camping. Always leave places as you found them, be considerate to residents, and see our Community Guidelines and Safety Tips.
