Van Life in Glasgow: Best Spots, Meetups & Where to Park

Connect with fellow van lifers, plan campouts and convoys, or meet someone who gets the lifestyle in Glasgow. Glasgow is a big-hearted Victorian city with great museums, live music and the Clyde, and a gateway to Loch Lomond and the west coast.

The van life scene in Glasgow

The city is built along the River Clyde, with parks and green corridors running through it. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs and the Firth of Clyde coast are under an hour’s drive.

When you are based in Glasgow, it is simple to find your crew when you plan a campfire with fellow van lifers.

Parking up and staying legal in Glasgow

Glasgow has a low emission zone and many height-restricted car parks, so check whether your vehicle is affected before driving in. Park outside the city and use public transport for the centre.

In Scotland, access rights cover lightweight tent camping in small numbers for two or three nights, but they do not include motor vehicles, so staying overnight in a campervan or motorhome is different. Landowners and councils can restrict where you park, and some areas, such as parts of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, have camping byelaws. Use campsites, motorhome stopovers or pubs that welcome vans, and follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.

Read the Scottish Outdoor Access Code guide to camping. Please leave places as you found them, be considerate to residents, and see our Community Guidelines and Safety Tips.
